Finished painting some grots using new Raphael brushes, and trying to use more dramatic highlights.
I learned 3 things:
1 - I need to make MORE dramatic highlights, I didn't go far enough.
2 - Always keep a second CLEAN cup of water for clean ups.
3 - Never paint anything with the same water after painting metallics.
Its not too late to add more highlights. Just need to hit the ridge of the nose, cheeks, brow, knuckles and various junting pieces. It wouldn't take long at all. I can't remember if I used white+goblin green or a scorpion green for the highlight.
ReplyDeleteHere's a suggestion for lesson #4: How to you incorporate other colors (ie. blue or red) to make the flesh look more realistic? This is something I have not been good at; which is one reason why I have enjoyed painting the completely enclosed Eldar. A lot of dramatic ork faces I've seen show a good amount of red in the nose and sometimes under the eyes.
